First up in the “Favorite Places” series is Israel. I’ve been wanting to go back so badly, and I actually wouldn’t even be opposed to staying in an apartment for 6 months in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv! Crazy idea, right? I know, and it’s probably not going to happen, but I’m just sayin’. So here goes- the first episode this new series!
It’s been over a year now since I was blessed with the opportunity to travel out of the country for the first time in my life. It was one of the most amazing experiences to date in my short life, and I’m so glad that Israel got to be the first foreign country I’ve visited.
Israel is such a beautiful country, and it reminds me of my own beloved California in many ways. So much so that upon landing in Tel Aviv and leaving the airport, it somehow felt faintly familiar. For one, the climate season by season is pretty much the same. Also, the geography is very similar. Israel has a west coast, a desert in the south, mountains in the north, the Sea of Galilee is positioned close to the eastern border like Lake Tahoe, and a few regions are even home to several vineyards like Paso Robles and Napa.
The pictures below are some of my favorites from the trip…
This path ran right along the coast in Joppa. Countless old commercial fishing boats were docked at a row of piers to the left. One of the things I like most about this photo is the brightly colored doors!
