We had dinner at Home Slice and their NY-style pizza earned a place on my list of favorite pizzas ever. The lighting inside was too dark to take an appealing picture, so you’ll just have to check it out for yourself :) I’m told that a wait is customary here- ours was about 45 minutes on a Monday night. My advice? Take a walk down the street to Uncommon Objects… an hour could disappear very quickly in there and your wait will be over in no time!

We enjoyed lunch at this funky Mexican restaurant so much that we returned the next day for a big lunch right before heading to the airport for the flight home. Lucky for us, we visted during their Green Chile Festival, a celebration of Hatch chile season. My meal, the chicken enchiladas with Hatch green chile sauce, was terrific. And definitely spicy. Also, we all loved the jalapeño ranch dip that comes with the pre-meal chips.

What can I say about this unbelievable ice cream shop? Oh, maybe I could tell you that they actually cross a Madagascar vanilla bean with a Mexican orchid to make a special hybrid bean that is used in their exclusive Mexican vanilla ice cream. I could not get that flavor out of my mind for days. The four of us shared a large because we had just come from Home Slice. We tried the Belgian chocolate, dark chocolate, coffee, and Mexican vanilla… adding that scoop of Mexican vanilla was probably the best decision of the whole trip. Next time, I might even be tempted to pass up all other flavors (even dark chocolate, to whom I am most loyal!!) in favor of Mexican vanilla. It was truly exceptional, and that’s coming from the girl who thinks that in general nothing could be more boring than a scoop of plain vanilla ice cream.
One more comment on Amy’s… super duper friendly service. I will be back.
