IMG_6862This is probably the most personal post I’ve ever done on my blog, but I feel that a very tiny personal recap is relevant as 2013 comes to a close.

2012 and 2013 have been by far the most challenging years of my life. In 2012 I moved for the first time- an experience which I would not care to repeat, though I know I will in the future. It wasn’t necessarily the moving itself that was difficult. It was definitely the leaving.

This year held challenges of it’s own. Can we all agree that it’s just plain hard to set up life in an unfamiliar place and be the outsider? I am beyond thankful for dear friends that stayed close despite distance.

Though I can’t honestly say that 2013 has been a good year, I can say that it has been valuable. I’ve grown tremendously and learned lessons I never would have learned had my life stayed relatively static. I’m finishing the year as a college sophomore. I’ve made one true new friend here for whom I am so grateful. I got to go home in September and was pretty successful at quickly regaining a sense of normalcy for a month.

Now I’m just really excited for 2014. The prospect of a new year always fills me with such hope and anticipation. It’s kind of like that quote from Anne of Green Gables… “Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it.”

Here’s to fresh starts, and a beautiful 2014.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

  1. I love that verse so much. And what’s interesting is that “Lamentations” means the act of lamenting or expressing grief. This verse seems misplaced, but the truth is that we can still praise the Lord through our hard times in life. I hope your New Year is refreshing and full of God’s amazing mercies. :) XO
