color love 09

colorloveblushI really like the sound of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s now-famous quote: I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.

However, I personally find it difficult to get excited about October (and fall in general) when all I really want to do is keep eating summer fruits and vegetables and spending time in the sun and wearing shorts and tank tops and open-toe shoes.

If October could feel like this quasi-moodboard, I might be a bit more welcoming. The blush tones and white-grey light project a decidedly fall-ish aura, while hinting at warmer, brighter days.

P.S. This is a month-related quote I really love.

a bit of berkeley, a bit of sf.

Last Tuesday I introduced my aunt to two of my favorite things: Cheese Board pizza and Bi-Rite ice cream. Originally the plan was just to go to Cheese Board and head home soon after. However, while shopping at Cotton Basics in Berkeley, my aunt found something she really wanted to buy, but her size/color was only available at the SF store.

So, of course, we jumped in her car and headed into the city after very little deliberation. We beat the clock by 4 minutes and were able to get over the bridge for $4 instead of $6. We went to Whole Foods in Noe Valley first, and to Cotton Basics. Then we had ice cream, then we visited a thrift store in the Mission. We decided to head for the Sunset to end the day with salads at Java Beach Cafe and a brief walk on the beach. It turned out to be a very full but very fun day. Continue reading

wallpaper_01_greenThis quote came through my Pinterest feed last week, and I liked it a lot. I think I like every C.S. Lewis quote, actually :)

While using the quote to experiment with some font and color combinations in Photoshop, I ended up really loving this particular design. So here it is as a free wallpaper download for you :) Choose your preferred size and color below, and enjoy! Continue reading

Processed with VSCOcam with f1 presetHappy Saturday! Are you doing anything fun today?

My only plan is to blog (finishing up the San Francisco series and working on a new Color Love post), work on some stuff for Society6, and watch the Olympics later on.

You might notice that my blog got a new look this week! I felt like switching themes and making a new header with a different font, mostly due to the recent identity crisis probably :) Hehe. I’m quite happy with the theme for now; it’s actually the first one I chose when I started The Thoughtful Plate.

For the weekend, here are some links:

Could this girl get anymore inspiring? She’s 18, her blog is ah-mazing, and she’s writing a book.

I needed to read this.

Photographer discovery on Flickr. Maybe I’ll call it a “Flickr Find”? :)

If someone asked you why tennis balls are fuzzy, what would you say?

Mmmm. One of my most favorite places in the world.

san francisco, part two.

Processed with VSCOcam with b2 presetThe alternate title for this post was “Everyone Should Do It Once”, but I’m a very symmetrical person, so I stuck with the title as you see it. My opinion still stands, however. Everyone should do this (at least) once in their lifetime: a sunset picnic in the Presidio. Oh my word. I just really wish you can do this, because no picture can capture the size and color of the golden sun as it slips behind the fog and into the ocean. No picture can capture the dancing, iridescent water. Continue reading
