IMG_3559I’ll go ahead and finish posting the photos I took on my camera at Berkeley yesterday. Just a few scattered scenes. South Hall, the Campanile, roses at the base of the Campanile, etc. Continue reading

hearst memorial miningYesterday was super great. In the morning, I got to meet up with my friend Natasha for coffee and photos. Then in the afternoon, Micah and I headed into the city for a handful of hours.

I have lots of photos to edit and post, but wanted to start with a few scenes from one of the prettiest buildings at Berkeley- Hearst Memorial Mining. All of them were taken on my “real” camera (read: not iPhone), which I lugged around all day and figured I might as well use :) Continue reading

durant ave., berkeleyThe final day in Berkeley arrived. I walked with Micah to her first class before revisiting some of my favorite campus spots and soaking up the moments. Then I walked home from Telegraph-ish up Durant instead of Bancroft.

My aunt came. We stuffed my suitcase and bicycle in the back of her Subaru again and headed for- where else?- pizza at Cheese Board, and then ice cream at Tara’s.

It was a happy/sad feeling once we got on 580 and started heading east. On one hand, I was going home, and in time for Thursday night college group at that. On the other hand though, I’m always sorry to leave the bay. I could stay forever. Continue reading

Wednesday threw me for a loop, as it was supposed to be the day my aunt would come over and pick me up. But around 8am or so, as I was finishing up a cup of coffee, she called and asked if it would be okay if she came on Thursday instead, since she had to take a friend to an appointment in the bay area anyways. Of course I said yes, that makes complete sense (sounding super practical, while inwardly rejoicing at the prospect of an extra day :)). Continue reading

Tuesday was a wonderful day from beginning to [late] end. I spent a good portion of the late morning in Elmwood, slow lunching and browsing some of my favorite little shops. In the afternoon, I walked around campus. Micah and I made dinner together in the evening, and when Taylor got out of her final class, the three of us headed into the city for a concert.

Here are some snaps and highlights… Continue reading

As much as the idea of real-time blogging appeals to me, we just don’t get along very well. That’s what Instagram is for… though even with that I’ve been known to employ the occasional #latergram. While I was in Berkeley recently, I would’ve liked to have composed a neat post of the day’s events each day before bed, but when faced with the option of blogging or baking random muffins because they sound good at 8:30pm, I chose baking. What can I say?

Anyways, it’s taken me a little bit to get all of my photos edited and then to decide the best way to organize these posts. I still don’t know, so I’m just jumping in! Here goes… Continue reading

a bit of berkeley, a bit of sf.

Last Tuesday I introduced my aunt to two of my favorite things: Cheese Board pizza and Bi-Rite ice cream. Originally the plan was just to go to Cheese Board and head home soon after. However, while shopping at Cotton Basics in Berkeley, my aunt found something she really wanted to buy, but her size/color was only available at the SF store.

So, of course, we jumped in her car and headed into the city after very little deliberation. We beat the clock by 4 minutes and were able to get over the bridge for $4 instead of $6. We went to Whole Foods in Noe Valley first, and to Cotton Basics. Then we had ice cream, then we visited a thrift store in the Mission. We decided to head for the Sunset to end the day with salads at Java Beach Cafe and a brief walk on the beach. It turned out to be a very full but very fun day. Continue reading
