IMG_6862This is probably the most personal post I’ve ever done on my blog, but I feel that a very tiny personal recap is relevant as 2013 comes to a close. Continue reading

day 2 | circles

IMG_3572{the dome at the texas state capitol}

We’ve spent the day in Austin, trying to see as much of this amazing city as possible. We’re only here until tomorrow afternoon- not nearly enough time. I will definitely be back. In a matter of hours Austin slid into a spot on my list of top five favorite cities.

I hope to do a little roundup post soon of where we went today along with some iPhone snapshots. We’re headed out again tonight for pizza and ice cream at two different places on South Congress. Knowing a local has many benefits :)

day 1 | breakfast

Here it is! The first day of September, the month in which I will repeat the August Break photography challenge.

P.S. That’s a homemade corn tortilla that’s as big as a flour tortilla. Both are amazing… actually, the flour is probably better but I resisted the temptation of gluten. (I gave in later on at Water Street though. Let’s be real. Their bread is too good.)

afterlight-35August is over. I think I participated in the August Break a whopping two times. I certainly had much higher expectations, but alas, the 31st is here and there’s nothing I can do about it.

I have decided to repeat the August Break in September, for myself. Because I am finally taking a break from school and September is the only month in sight where I won’t be stuck in front of my laptop and books for most of the day (there’s not much scope for the imagination in that).

So. My own little “September Break” starts tomorrow, and I’ll be using the same prompts as the real thing.

In other news, I’m still in South Texas. I’ve been at my great-aunt’s family reunion all day and am getting this post in during a quick run back to the hotel. So far the day has been filled with lots of mingling and meeting new people, lots of family pictures, and lotería. When I return, the mariachi will have arrived and I’m hoping to grab another cup of the yummy pineapple juice I was enjoying in the photo above :)

vsco_0Digging: 1 Corinthians 8-10

Drinking: Coffee.

Eating: Breakfast in about 20 minutes.

Listening: I Will Exalt… it’s my current favorite morning song.

Wearing: We’ll just leave it at pajamas.

Feeling: Beyond excited for the next several weeks.

Weather: Lovely. Perfect.

Needing: To finish packing. No problem though, because I adore packing.

Enjoying: Not having to think about school! It’s glorious, and I’m only on my second day. Yesterday I was sitting in the sun on the patio at 9 o’clock in the morning, just playing guitar and letting the sun and wind dry my hair. Like I said, glorious.

IMG_2600…last year’s summer trip to South Texas. The coast down there has a totally different vibe from the California coast, but it’s really fun! I thought I’d share just a few of my favorite photos from last year as I prepare to head there again in 10 days. Continue reading
