three from the weekend

threefromtheweekend1801 / Post-Good Friday Service candid, completely unstyled #fromwherewestand.

02 / Meegan and I had probably the shortest photo adventure ever on Saturday. I think I’ll post the photos this week.

03 / I made challah to go with our Easter lunch. It’s like the supermodel of breads.

three from the weekend

threefromtheweekend1501 / It rained a bit, but I loved it because it felt like winter at home (read: rain, 55 degrees) and I got to wear my TOMS.
02 / On Saturday I played guitar outside and it was grand.
03 / Meegan and I squeezed in a photo adventure without even trying! More photos soon.

the ideas i have while working out

IMG_1571In general, I listen to music while I work out. That facilitates one of two things: attempting to sing along while doing sprinter starts or counting reps/seconds. Clearly listening to music is a good idea, because the alternative is silence and that facilitates thinking.

I think about all sorts of things. This morning, I thought about dessert. I thought about how my brother has been after me to make some cinnamon swirl bread. I thought about how I think cinnamon swirl bread is rather dull.

Next, I thought about how I could make a better version of cinnamon swirl bread. Continue reading

three from the weekend

threefromtheweekend12For the past few days leading up to this weekly post, I’ve been super curious. Each week I’ve been sharing a few things from my weekend, but I want to know what your weekends look like!

Do you stay in and relax? Do you get out and do something fun in your town or nearby? Do you bake? Hang out with friends? Work? Obviously every weekend is different, but I’d love to know what your definition of a weekend well-spent is!

+ + + + + + + + + +

01 / The latest Bon Appetit came on Friday evening, so I spent part of Saturday morning flipping through its pages.
02 / Channeled my inner kid (it’s not difficult to do) and made plain cheese quesadillas. (With sharp cheddar and homemade tortillas.)
03 / You know when it becomes imperative that you bake something chocolatey? That happened. Also, I find it a little strange that I published that recipe almost one year ago to the day.

three from the weekend

threefromtheweekend10I had a fairly wonderful weekend. On Saturday, I hung out with Meegan at the coffee shop for an extended amount of time. Church was great on Sunday and I tried out a new college group in the evening. I’m not used to being the “new person” in settings like that, so it’s always a certain degree of awkward. But I met some friendly people and all in all it wasn’t too bad. The weekend came to an end with ¾ of an episode of NCIS.

+ + + + + + + + + +

01 / Sunny Saturdays are for sitting outside with a good friend at the coffee shop through a whole laptop battery cycle, then moving inside to the window seat for a while.
02 / Driving home during the golden hour for dinner.
03 / Sunny Sundays are for drinking Meyer lemon Italian sodas in the sun.

three from the weekend

threefromtheweekend09I woke up on Saturday morning and realized after breakfast that I didn’t have a single thing planned. So I called Meegan and she came over in the afternoon to eat See’s candy (bless you, Johnson’s), drink warm drinks, and edit photos. We worked on our portfolios together, so Saturday turned out to be productive and fun.

+ + + + + + + + + +

01 / Chai tea for me and coffee for Meegan.
02 / A little time spent with Martin.
03 / Baking on Sunday afternoon is more fun than watching the Super Bowl on Sunday afternoon, and that’s a fact.
